Whites Mechanical & Fabrication: Part of a Rich Service Industry in Bay of Quinte

April 17, 2026

The Bay of Quinte region supports a large number of manufacturers. Anyone involved in running a manufacturing facility will not be surprised to hear that companies like Whites Mechanical & Fabrication exist here. Whites is one example of the many support services in a region densely populated with industry – and the skilled labour and logistics to support it.

What Does Whites Mechanical & Fabrication Do for Manufacturers?

“Bringing the handshake back to business.” – Wayne White, Owner

Whites Mechanical & Fabrication is a one-stop shop for industrial support. Whatever a company needs, they’ve done it: millwrighting, custom fabrication, machining, turnkey design, and high-pressure pipe installation. Whites is approved by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) for pressure vessels and piping systems. Whites is also certified in structural steel design and fabrication (CWB).

Whites works with manufacturers across a wide range of sectors, including:

  • Pulp and paper
  • Food processing
  • Automotive
  • Farming
  • Aggregate

On a larger scale, Whites can manage the logistics of getting a new manufacturer up and running in the region. They can design the floor plan for a product line and, when needed, acquire equipment, coordinate loading and transport, arrange cranes, unload, set up, and ensure everything aligns with safety requirements.

They provide the same end-to-end support for established manufacturers installing new product lines, as well as regular maintenance services – helping facilities get back up and running as quickly as possible after maintenance-related shutdowns.

Resources and Skilled Labour in Bay of Quinte

“If we can’t do it, then we have resources that can.” – Wayne White, Owner

A company like Whites can thrive in Bay of Quinte because the region has a strong concentration of manufacturers and related services. The region also has the skilled labour needed to support industry.

Wayne White is a good example. He began his career in 1995 after taking the Mechanical Techniques program at Loyalist College. Later, when an employer closed, he re-skilled and earned his millwright ticket.

Loyalist College continues to provide training for workers in the Bay of Quinte region. The Quinte Economic Development Commission (QEDC) also supports workforce development through Elevate Plus, a government-funded training program that helps align skills training with employer needs and supports retention.

Wayne White: Owner and Long-Time Resident

The owner of Whites Mechanical & Fabrication, Wayne White, grew up in Stirling not far from the Whites facility in Belleville. He has a lifelong familiarity with the Bay of Quinte region, having started his career in 1995 at Loyalist College and worked in roles across the region ever since.

He became sole proprietor of Whites Mechanical & Fabrication in 2010 and has grown the company into a thriving business that provides approximately 70 jobs – along with additional subcontractor work – and draws on other businesses across the region.

Fun note: Wayne’s young son designed the company logo.

The Bay of Quinte region is a great place to live. It’s easier to get around than in the big city – Toronto is not far away, though, if big city is what’s needed. Also, taxes and the cost of housing are lower in Bay of Quinte. This is also true for manufacturing facilities.
