Since August 2020, Truss Beverages has sold the most diverse portfolio of cannabis beverages in Canada. Based in the Bay of Quinte, Truss Beverages, a joint venture between Hexo Corp. and Molson-Coors, has become Canada’s leading cannabis-infused beverage producer, currently distributing their products to 96% of the 2100 licensed retailers in the country. Truss uses cool technology and automation to innovate in the beverage industry, including an advanced water purification system.

Little Victory: vibrant and naturally flavoured sparkling beverages to celebrate life’s small wins
Veryvell: a line of self-care beverage products
House of Terpenes: sparkling tonics that celebrate the flavours of cannabis
Mollo: a crisp drink with an easy taste
XMG: a bold and high-intensity flavour
Why Truss Chose Bay of Quinte
Choosing to lay roots in the Bay of Quinte was an easy decision since the Bay of Quinte is home to a highly trained and skilled workforce, from new graduates of the area’s top post-secondary institutions to skilled tradespeople. With local post-secondary institutions like Loyalist College nearby, Truss Beverages has plenty of future workforce participants to work with.
Currently, Truss Beverages employs 60 residents across the business. Since its inception, Truss has been able to grow its employee base by 56%. And at the time of retrofitting and renovating their 183,600-square-foot facility, Truss was able to employ 300 people.
To further establish their relationship with the Bay of Quinte, Truss has set up a bursary for Indigenous post-secondary students through the Building Brighter Futures program created by Indspire. Truss provides internships and placements at their Belleville facility to students in fields such as the sciences or supply chain management, which prepares them for a career in the cannabis sector. As well, through Truss Beverages’ seat on the Advisory Committee for the Cannabis program at Loyalist College, Truss has been able to provide student placements to five students currently. The future of the cannabis sector is strong in the Bay of Quinte.
The Bay of Quinte community has welcomed Truss Beverages with open arms including awarding the company the Chamber of Commerce Community Hero Award in 2020 recognizing the impacts that its businesses have on the region.
The Bay of Quinte is strategically located between Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal, making it close to major markets in Canada. The region is also accessed by Highway 401, making shipping and supply chain management more accessible to Truss Beverages and businesses like it.
The Quinte Economic Development Commission (QEDC) provides information, connections, and resources for manufacturers in the Bay of Quinte. QEDC supports the region’s businesses and entrepreneurs as well as the local workforce.
