Simply Perfect: 3 Reasons 3PLs Like Mikhaeil Group Logistics Choose Bay of Quinte
June 27, 2025
Mikhaeil Group Logistics started as a wish. The founders, 2 brothers and a best friend, had owned, operated, and sold third-party logistics (3PL) companies in the past, but were approached by former client, Hagen Pet Food Inc., who were so impressed with their past services, they requested to become clients again. And thus, Mikhaeil Group Logistics became a reality.
Mikhaeil Group Logistics moves goods for Hagen, as well as Amazon, Costco, Canadian Tire, Sobeys, and Hillman products which include Princess Auto and Home Depot. They’re also the sole 3PL distributor for Dollarama in eastern Ontario. From picking up and packaging goods and distributing goods across eastern Canada, for Mikhaeil Group Logistics and other 3PLs, the Bay of Quinte region – specifically, Belleville – is a near “perfect location”, says DC Manager, Dan Gignac. Here’s why:
The People: the people of the Bay of Quinte are highly skilled, highly motivated people. Need proof? In June 2024, Mikhaeil Group employed 30 people. By spring 2025, they’d added 70 people to their roster, now employing 100 locals – and that’s not including their fleet of drivers.
The Place: the Bay of Quinte region already has the infrastructure to help 3PL companies grow. “The infrastructure was already here,” says Gignac, of Mikhaeil Group’s need for food grade facilities for clients like Hagen and Dollarama, making site selection in the region an easy choice. That infrastructure extends to transportation as well. Mikhaeil Group’s newest Belleville facilities are right next door to the 401 Highway. “It’s easy to get everywhere we need to go,” says Gignac, who oversees the shipping of clients’ goods to Oakville, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and as far east as Newfoundland.
The Priority: Mikhaeil Group Logistics ships goods throughout eastern Canada and the world, but, “We always buy local,” say Gignac. Whether it’s janitorial and maintenance supplies, or sourcing truck and fleet maintenance, Mikhaeil Group prioritizes supporting the local business community and the Bay of Quinte’s local economy is what makes this possible. “We buy from our community,” and the Bay of Quinte makes that possible.
