Significant Growth: Why Industrial Global Leaders Choose the Bay of Quinte

October 17, 2025

For the last 55 years, Amer Sports has been a member of the Bay of Quinte business community. The sports equipment distributor is a globally recognized company, part of a global group of sports and outdoor brands. They carry 10 brands, including Atomic, Armada, Salomon, Wilson, Peak Performance, and Canadian brand Arc’teryx. Amer Sports calls Belleville home, having recently moved into a new 8.3 million cubic foot facility, where their 80 employees support all channels of distribution, from retail to wholesale to e-commerce.

This new campus, over double in size from their previous facility of 3.3 million cubic feet, is the “only facility globally to distribute all Amer Sports brands,” reports Bradley Dow, Director of Distribution and IT Operations at Amer Sports. These highly skilled workers use 60,000 tote bins, an automated storage retrieval system (ASRS), and work with 36 robots on the “super flat floor” required to optimize robotic operations to successfully complete their click-to-fulfill process in just minutes.

The Centre of Gravity: Putting Bay of Quinte on the Map

Dow is frank when he explains why Amer Sports continues to choose the Bay of Quinte. It’s because:

  1. Peer review: Other successful companies have already chosen the region, including P&G, Kellogg and Amazon. To Dow it’s clear that the Bay of Quinte has something to do with their success.
  2. Location and logistics: The region is well located between Toronto and the Quebec border and near the US border. “The 401 Highway is the busiest commercial highway in the world,” says Dow.

With “67% of Canada’s population within 5 hours” of the region. He says the Bay of Quinte is the “centre of gravity”.

  1. Community: Whether it’s the highly skilled workers they’ve been able to hire from local Community College, Loyalist College, working with the college to match graduates with positions, or opportunities to participate and give back to the community with the YMCA Centre for Life. For Dow, the numbers and the benefits speak for themselves: “It’s all here for us.”
