Kruger PRO: A Thriving Local Manufacturer in Bay of Quinte

March 3, 2026

Kruger PRO is proud of its product and proud to be a presence in Bay of Quinte. The company supplies businesses with the paper products they need. Kruger Human Resources Manager Anne-Marie Cote-Wood notes that, “If you have a bathroom for your employees, you have tissue needs: toilet paper, facial tissue, and paper towel.” She then names some of the places their products could end up: “The library, municipal buildings, schools, movie theatres, shopping centres, and ONroutes along the 401.” Eastern Ontario, where Bay of Quinte is located, has a large population. There is great potential for growth for Kruger PRO in the region.

Kruger PRO arrived in Bay of Quinte when it took over the operation of Metro Paper in 2014. It arrived in a region that already had – and continues to have – strong logistics and supports in place for manufacturers. It operates out of a facility in Quinte West and has over 200 employees.

Bay of Quinte: Manufacturing Hub in Ontario

Kruger has offices and manufacturing facilities all over North America, but it has enough confidence in Bay of Quinte that it recently chose its Quinte West location to launch a new product line of napkins. Overall, operating costs for running a business are lower here. As well, businesses in Bay of Quinte enjoy:

  • A ready, skilled labour pool. Nearby Loyalist College provides industry-specific training programs
  • Close proximity to the Greater Toronto Area
  • Close proximity to Highway 401, a shipping corridor that easily connects the region to Ontario and Canadian markets as well as those in the United States
  • Plenty of economic development support through the Quinte Economic Development Commission (QEDC)
  • A good lifestyle in uncrowded communities with housing costs that are lower than in the big cities
Kruger PRO: Keeping Bay of Quinte Green and Good

Kruger is a community leader in the practice of green manufacturing. It runs an internal program called “Reimagine 2030” that is focused on making sure the company becomes even greener through further examination of its fibre content, use of renewable energy, and reduction in water emissions.

Kruger also supports 17 organizations in the region. Some are local sports teams like the Frankford Huskies or the Belleville Storm – examples of the recreation available and abundant in the region – and others are entities designed to help people, such as Ronald McDonald House and the United Way. All of them contribute to the health and well-being of a region that is already known for its great lifestyle. Kruger likes to support their community in the same way their community supports them. Industries, businesses, and entrepreneurs have access to ready information, connections, and resources through the Quinte Economic Development Commission (QEDC).
