Helping Businesses Grow While Growing A Business In the Bay of Quinte
February 19, 2025
When Terri Lynn Simpson left her job of 22 years at Procter & Gamble in the Bay of Quinte, she knew what she wanted to do: help small businesses run like big businesses. Using her years of experience providing support to P&G across multiple departments like HR, supply chain, quality assurance, and operations, Simpson has spent the last two years growing her businesses in Brighton, in the Bay of Quinte region, providing business consulting and leadership coaching.
In the digital age, this kind of work can be done anywhere. Simpson works with businesses of varying sizes (1 to 100 employees) across North America, offering her services in-person or remotely. So why does Simpson choose to run Terri Lynn Simpson Consulting from the Bay of Quinte?
The simple answer is, because she can. Simpson has roots in the community and has lived in the region for 25 years. But that’s also why she runs her business in the Bay of Quinte: she knows the business landscape, knows the people, and knows there are abundant opportunities to help businesses grow.
The Bay of Quinte Is Hungry for Growth
TLS Consulting feeds hungry clients in three ways:
1. Vision planning: helping businesses define their goals and project their growth over the next few years and creating an action plan to achieve those goals.
2. Process improvement: identifying any existing inefficiencies in current processes, or creating processes where there were previously none.
3. Organizational design: cementing a business’s staffing and reporting structure and offering HR support to build that design.
She sees success with a lot of differently sized businesses, especially professional services, like architects, health practitioners, and engineers. Simpson wanted to do something she loves and “working with people who are as growth-driven as I am” is exactly what she loves, and is possible in the Bay of Quinte.
For example, because of a recent networking event, Simpson was able to move her business from her work from home set up to actual office space. Simpson doesn’t identify herself as a person who’s eager to live that WFH life (work from home), so this opportunity provides her with affordable access to more opportunities to meet with potential clients in her town. An added plus? She gets to work every day in one of the beautiful historic buildings the Bay of Quinte is well known for.
Simpson was also invited to kick off a Small Business Week event as keynote speaker, and has received an invitation to attend the Quinte Business Awards. For Simpson, these opportunities are just the beginning of her success as a business consultant and in the Bay of Quinte.
