The Truth About Essential Food Production and Logistics

May 18, 2020

There are three hard and fast truths about essential food production and logistics.

  1. Companies and workers in these two sectors are often underappreciated.
  2. Logistics and food production depend on local communities for their highly engaged workforce.
  3. These industries benefit from supportive collaboration with local economic development organizations.

Quality Food Production and Logistics Help Fight Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has made it clear that our health depends on having quality food that is delivered where we need it. Now is the perfect time to appreciate the food production and logistics companies that make that happen.

In a Quinte News interview, Rob Haggarty, President and COO, International Truckload Services (ITS), noted that ITS is running at full capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Drivers are able to make better time on their commutes, as there are only about half as many vehicles on the roads.

The Bay of Quinte area has a strong food production and logistics community. Local manufacturers, including food producers, benefit from the Quinte Manufacturers Association (QMA). The QMA facilitates regular communication and support, administered by the Quinte Economic Development Commission (QEDC).
