No Commute for the Things you Love to do after Work
March 12, 2013
It’s only a short drive to the things you love to do after work in the Bay of Quinte. From vineyards to some of the best walking trails in Ontario, the Bay of Quinte encourages you to fill your life with recreation, arts and pure leisure…
Outdoors and Fitness
Close to Cottage Country and Provincial Parks, the Bay of Quinte is also home to the Eastern Ontario Trails Network. The beautiful Bay of the Bay of Quinte runs in two directions, over 500 km along Lake Ontario’s shoreline, with lots of waterfront biking paths.
Quickly scoot out after work for a round of golf in summer, enjoy cross country and downhill skiing and curling in winter, or play sports like squash and hockey all year round.
Get access to Lake Simcoe and Georgian Bay on a sail or motor boat. You can travel up the Trent-Severn Waterway’s world famous lock system and see hidden views of Ontario’s lakes and rivers.
Arts & Recreation
Community theatres, writers’ guilds, book clubs, and auto racing clubs are just some of the local organisations to join. Check out local museums with your kids.
The Bay of Quinte Tourism website lists a complete list of Culture events and packages.
There are also community service and Legion Halls, and dozens of annual community events and festivals like:
- The Belleville Waterfront Festival,
- Brighton’s Applefest,
- The Bay of Quinte West Summer Festival,
- The Festival of Lights
- Culinary festivals (beer and food!)
Known as the Walleye Capital of the world, fishing is taken seriously in the Bay of Quinte. Snowmobiling and ATVing are popular ways to explore the plethora of lakes at all times of the year. Try ice-fishing or dog-sledding with any of the “real” Canadians who live here year-round just waiting for ice and snow.
Pure Leisure
From sampling wine in cosy vineyards and beer tasting in the country to waterfront restaurants, the Bay of Quinte is a great place to relax, and enjoy yourself. Sun yourself on Sandbanks’ famous beach or birdwatch in protected sites and wetlands. When the summer comes, make sure you have your tickets for upcoming concerts, at local vineyards, Belleville’s Empire Theatre and nearby, the Havelock Country Music Jamboree.

Catch the latest movies, whether you want to see Hollywood blockbusters or independent film festivals at all times of the year.
