Today, Neil R. Ellis, Member of Parliament for Bay of Quinte, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario, announced an investment of up to $1.95 million to Strathcona Energy Group Inc. (SEG) to expand production capacity for its core solar panel business in Belleville.

Protecting the environment and growing the Canadian economy go hand in hand. That is why the Government of Canada is investing in SEG, a company that specializes in renewable energy solutions, including design, manufacturing and assembling services. Through this investment, SEG will be able to fit up its new Belleville headquarters and primary manufacturing site, expand its facility space by an additional 100,000 square feet, and purchase new technology. These efforts will allow the company to pursue trade opportunities through export markets and meet increased demand for its niche line of products.

This contribution will help SEG expand its production, testing, and research and development capabilities in order to increase the company’s capacity to manufacture innovative solar panels. This project is expected to create up to 86 new full-time equivalent jobs in the clean energy sector in Belleville. The project will allow SEG to work collaboratively with local academic and regional development partners to support innovation and entrepreneurship in the Belleville area. The project will also serve to strengthen southern Ontario’s renewable energy sector.
