The Loyalist Training and Knowledge Centre (LTKC) has been presented with a Community Champion Award by the Poverty Roundtable for Hastings and Prince Edward Counties – in recognition of the success of the Elevate and Elevate Plus Programs. Coordinator Neil Dick, of Loyalist Training & Knowledge Centre, and Mike Hewitt MRC Coordinator with Quinte Economic Development Commission, were on hand to receive the award.

The Elevate Plus Program provides free training and support for workers to enter local manufacturing and food processing jobs. Four weeks of classroom training are followed by a two week job trial. The trial period gives both employer and employee a chance to see if it is a good fit, eliminating the major expenditure, of finances and time, typically spent on the hiring process.  Manufacturing employers are encouraged to partner in the Elevate Plus Program by hosting placements, which often turn into permanent employment. When placements lead to permanent employment, the manufacturer knows they are gaining an employee who is already trained and a good fit for their staff team.
