Ontario is helping GlobalMed Inc. invest in new technology and grow its business while creating 10 new jobs and retaining 180 jobs in Quinte West.
GlobalMed manufactures specialized plastic tubing used in the medical field. With support from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, the company is investing in new technology and equipment that will increase production, reduce waste and help the company offer a greater range of products to its customers. GlobalMed employees will also receive training to enhance their skills with the new technology.
The Eastern Ontario Development Fund is driving job creation and business growth, and was the model for the successful Southwestern Ontario Development Fund. Together, these two funds have strengthened local economies by creating and retaining more than 24,000 jobs.
Supporting local businesses is part of the government’s economic plan to invest in people, build modern infrastructure and support a dynamic and innovative business climate across Ontario.
“GlobalMed is a great example of an Ontario company that is successfully marketing its innovative products on the world stage. Through the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, our government is helping ambitious companies make the investments required to stay competitive and create jobs in their local communities.”
Dr. Eric Hoskins
Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Employment
“We want Ontario’s rural communities to offer a good quality of life with a range of career opportunities for people — and that requires a diverse and vibrant economy. Companies like GlobalMed play a crucial role in their local communities and I’m delighted that our government is able to help the business grow and add jobs.”
